Has this happened? If so, what are the new changes incorporated to attract more members/visitors? _________________________________________________ From BWP's Home Page The BWP is in Remarkup Mode 01/07/2010 From January 8 to January 31 the BWP is in Remarkup and recoding mode! Say whuh? Well, the BWP has survived because the founders were programmers and engineers, however, over the last few years became involved in their individual careers! However, in 2010 we have come alive and realized that our site needs a facelift and work on the undercarriage. On the surface our site is a mix of tables creating the site sections. This old way of doing things makes our site slow to load and cumbersome to remodel. Our code is also based on HTML 4.0. This time out we are moving to CSS 2.0 for presentation and XHTML for the structure this will make is easy to include RSS feeds and future mashups needed to included external resources in our applications. In the undercarriage we are totally retooling our old Cold Fusion code set! We are kicking to the curb our antiquated validation techniques and beefing up our application layer to protect our site and customers from threats. In our final stages we shall embed paypal modules into our pay schemes to make it easier for our customers to pay for services rendered. We expect to have all application layer changes in place January 11th. We expect to have our structure planned out by the 11th and implemented throughout the site by January 22nd. Finally, we shall implement paypal into our pay module to make all services turnkey. Thus on February 1, 2010 we really do reluanch the entire site and shall attract millions of African-Americans coast to coast! We are really going to have some fun.

Working our normal jobs, family time, traveling, etc. has gotten in the way of rebuilding the site. Plus, not everyone on the staff knows how to program making it very tough to spread the work around. Yes, the same ole, same ole and I have grown a little tired. Quite sad this must even be mentioned.

If you're a "real" business, you'd know how to make it work and stop with the excxuses.

You haven't updated the RULES OF ENGAGEMENT since 2007 and I really don't expect a RELAUNCH until President Obama runs for re-election. It's your site and you're going to do what you want even when you know you don't have the resources to do it. Carry on.

thats why i put up the thread nigger history again cleo.... because the"creator" picks and chooses what it thinks is important...and if you check the homepage...fluff is all that is important. if they wont play by their own rules...why should i? cause its their house? big friggin deal...they made their choices i made mine....if people recognize the theme..they would note that i have been extremely sarcastic and cynical since the arrival of a new creator.... and this portal has been spiraling downward ever since.

You know cleodine we read your comments and think you really don't understand what it takes to create a major enterprise. I think that you think we are running a quote unquote, web page Do you really understand what it takes to re-engineer something? What it takes to move from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0? How about moving an entire database from one version to another? If you do, then you are probably mis-speaking, if you don't, I can get you hip to the process so that you can appreciate the work that Yahoo and Google put into their site. We always like folks that comment but can they do something. Like, can you program cleodine? Do you konw any markup language, behavioral language, server side language, and how to protect a site from intruders? Do you know how to set up databases, create schemas, secure the schema, set the roles, and make the access per user or group? Or do you know a lot about ETL? TheCreator, are you for real? I asked the following questions based on what was posted regarding the RELAUNCH:
quote:
Has this happened? If so, what are the new changes incorporated to attract more members/visitors?
A simply YES or NO to the first question would have been sufficient. Instead, you decided to give me your life story which is something I didn't ask you to provide. Furthermore, I asked the question(s) to determine if BWP would be a good site to advertise/promote soon-to-be-launched businesses for 3 friends and myself. Instead, you took the negative route and you know you did. I asked the questions because my friends noticed some discrepancies and asked me to do the research because I'm a member. Quite frankly, and even though the rates are EXTREMELY LOW, at this moment I CANNOT & WILL NOT RECOMMEND ADVERTISING ON BWP until the RELAUNCH IS COMPLETED. Also, you need to review the business listings because at least 50% of the sites I visited don't exist or information truly needs to be updated. NOW, PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY BLACK FOLKS SHOULD ADVERTISE ON YOUR PORTAL WHEN YOU'RE NOT READY AND DON'T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO COMPLETE THE TASK? You are the one who posted the information about RELAUNCHING BWP. You are the one who specified a date. And, you are the one who missed the date. Therefore, the ONUS is on you to make good or take down the information or set a new date. Furthermore, DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO THROW THIS BACK ON ME because I'm not having it. I have access to those knowledgable about the questions you asked me. And when I need them, all I have to do is make a call and/or send an email detailing what I want/need and the due date. These professionals will get back to me and we will negotiate the price for the service(s) I requested. Also, I don't need you to get me hip to anything regarding web/portal-building and it's maintenance. As I've already expressed, I have professionals at the ready when I need them. Don't get snippy with me because I asked a SIMPLE question about the RELAUNCH. Don't get snippy with me when your answer should have been YES or NO to my inquiry. Instead, you wanted to give a dissertation about your personal life which has no bearing on the question I asked. Your replies to my question(s) were very childish and unprofessional. However, you needed two edited replies, within 1 hr and 18 minutes to make your point. Now, that's funny. BWP IS NEITHER YAHOO NOR GOOGLE and I don't even know why you'd compare yourself to these billion dollar corporations. You sound just like President Obama trying to blame others for what HIS PEOPLE WERE UNABLE TO ACCOMPLISH. Last and certainly not least, I saw listings for a few people I know. I will contact them and ask that they review BWP before renewing their contracts. TheCreator, thank you for your replies.

What programming languages are you using? Will you still be using ColdFusion?

Yes it is and truly shows the IGNORANCE OF THIS THECREATOR. It's even more wrong for TheCreator to keep putting her/his foot in the mouth. Already, The Creator has had to swallow words she/he has written when trying to SHAME some members and question their intelligence. However, SOME OF US KNOW BETTER AND RECOGNIZE BULLSHYT WHEN WE SEE/READ IT!!!!! BWP...BULLSHYT WEB PORTAL? Only they know the ANSWER!!!!

Figured you'd answer that way. It seems to be the way folks answer questions nowadays. They just want to say stuff to be noticed and be the best. Hey, life story, no; we thought that you might actually have some coding talent if you were going to throw our fluid schedule back at us. bevo: thank you; that is the kind of answer we were expecting folks that were really interested in our future to ask. You know, to share in our vision if they were bad assed programmers. That is the kind of thing you float around. But every time you give a few of the folks on the board a little something they get very defensive and think that you're questioning their intelligence when that is far from the truth. The truth be known we want to get done with this gig and just have life in the way w/o the money the big sites have to finish the task. But the answer we got, we expected. We expect nothing good from the folks in the BWP anymore. [The site avatar creates discussions from community & popular topics]

cleodine, we agree with you. We are doing way too much work. Thus we are shutting down all interactive parts of the site immediately so that we can manage things properly when we return. [The site avatar creates discussions from community & popular topics]

BWP Staff, I really don't care about your personal life, etc. but you guys really seems to have an ego and control problem. I really think you should stay out of the comments business because of where you are sitting. You should understand your comments on based on 'I am in charge' kinda thing.

grassroot, no, we are hard workers. Hard workers that have done a great job running a site, working our jobs, raising our families, etc. So if you don't want to hear about hard work, so be it. But calling us out of our name ... again ... with zero respect, BS, and unacceptable. Anonymity as made folks capable of yelling and suffering zero for it. Well, since we are not a mega site with a staff of 400, well, we are a bit, sensitive at times. <hr> You see sl8, this site is a labor of love. We have to actually get off of work and work the site. We realize that YOU and others did not understand that. Thus since we got a lot of flack from not keeping up with everyone else (they have employees!) and no one understood how much effort it would take for an individual to do such a thing we just took it down to lessen the noise from you and others. There are other sites you can discuss Black issues. Thus I personally had to learn XML, XHTML, CSS during the last 2 months just to make basic changes ... and that result will be a static one since JavaScript will have to be relearned to do any sort of Web service!! In the meantime, I chose not to put up with input that would make me take time to respond to. Especially when every section of the site had to be rebuilt. Folks in the boards would still demand attention even though they knew the at the time the site was a small time affair. Thus I asserted a bit of power (not ego) and stopped the flow of incoming information in order to better manage the site. Hey, this site SERVES the community, no need to be punished for doing it.
