  • Why Fill out the Census? Folks, we can make the difference now more then ever. There is so much at stake that we must pay close attention to the issues that matters most in our communities. We must have accurate political representation that reflects who we are as Black Americans. In this new decade, this is a chance for us to get an accurate head count for federal aid. Federal money is gained or lost based on Census data collected. That's why we are urging our people to be sure to be counted. Each and everyone of us makes a difference, especially now in this slow economy. The Census Bureau will begin collecting population information next month. So be ready. An estimated $400 Billion dollars in federal aid money will go to states based on their population. So be there to represent!
  • Here's what to expect: Be Counted forms are census forms that are available at various community locations for use by people who either did not receive a form in the mail or whose information was not collected on any other form. Be Counted forms are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Russian. These forms can be picked up in various community locations and mailed back in the attached postage-paid envelope.
  • Can I fill the form out online? First, you will receive a Census Questionnaire in the U.S. Mail. Fill it out immediately. Make sure that an accurate count is given for all of our Black Citizens in our households. Secondly, the questionnaire will only take a few minutes to complete, but more importantly, your application remains confidential. All of our responses are protected by the United States Code of Justices via Title 13, U.S. Code Section 9. Additionally, all Census Bureau employees are required by law to take an oath to protect confidential information - this means that they are subject to jail, a fine or both for disclosing any information that could identify you - a respondent or household. And finally, it's the Law. The information that we provide will be used by our local, state and federal agencies , among others things, will be used apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, align state legislatures which will represent the overall makeup of the political leadership in our districts.
