(BWP Wire) Over the next few weeks you are going to see the BWP make its move to the top of the pack. We are going to do it via the web, via paper, via newsletters, and via press releases.
Our goal? To be in the top 5 of all Black sites by the end of summer!
You will see our content grow. You will see our business offerings grow. Plus, you will be more informed than ever before.
Please note that we are NOT changing. You will still have the simple front end. But what you will have is more State and Regional information and you will find more Black sites easily.
If you love movies based on comic books like Spiderman, Daredevil,
Fantastic Four, Batman, & Superman, you will absolutely LOVE the
new Marvel Studio release Iron Man.
Gotta tell you straight from the BWP developer office that this
money is as slick as its marketing campaign.
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gweneth Paltrow,
and the boozy, womanizing Tony Stark came to life. Don't have
a lot of time to dig into the action, but if you can catch this
flick on the big screen (bootleg just won't do it) you'll have
a cool experience.
Be sure to click the link below to check out the Terrence Howard gallery.
Candace Nicole Parker (born April 19, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an
All American basketball player for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. She was
drafted to the team from Tennessee in 2008. She may be best known for
being the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game and the first
woman to dunk twice in a college game — she set both milestones as a
redshirt freshman on March 19, 2006.
A uniquely versatile player, she is mainly a forward, but was listed on
Tennessee's roster as a forward, center, and guard. She was a starter
on the Lady Vols Basketball team, winners of the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Women's
Basketball Tournament.
Parker's brother Anthony Parker plays for the NBA's Toronto Raptors.
Candace Parker announced engagement to Shelden Williams, who was a college
basketball star with Duke University 2002-2006. Currently, he plays for the
Sacramento Kings in the NBA.
(BWP Wire) The media is acting as the bad official in the democratic race. How? By purposely choosing non-issues to evaluate each candidate? It is plain as day that the producers and directors of TV cable and mainstream news shoes are pulling the strings on what to push as important in their daily feeds.
The fact that some folks won't vote for Clinton because of Lewinsky (old
news) and some won't vote for Obama because of some reverend named Wright
(who is he anyway) is eye opening. It makes you think about why the
media is taking sides. But where is McCain in this picture? With Hagee
calling the Catholic church The Great Whore, you would think he
deserves an honorable mention! But that is not important, they really
want Hillary in the campaign against McCain and that damn Obama got in
the freakin' way.
Think about it. The media is supposedly here to serve the public good, but for
the last 12 years it really has served itself. It was fairly obvious
to this writer and many regular US citizens that Iraq had no weapons of mass
destruction. In addition, the media happily bought into what the Bush Whitehouse
administration said and did hardly anything to fact check the
validity of a war that would destroy a country and takes tens of
thousands of lives.
Everyone has said it time and time again ... to win the
election you must apologize for the vote for the Iraq
war. To put it plainly, if you authorize action that
you found out was illegal, why back it? This simple
but plain truth is why Clinton is losing. The people
that are voting for Clinton understand this but just want her in
the Whitehouse. This is not a good reason and they did to
rethink their choice for the good of the country and the world.
We have a country to save folks. We have policies in
place that are so bad that you'd think that grade
schoolers were running the show. So why Clinton did
not do the obvious is a mystery to everyone. We need
someone that really tells the truth.
Hillary lost the Black vote because she backed Bush for the
war even though she learned the truth. This is not the sign
of a good leader.
(BWP Wire) From our vantage point Mr. Barack Obama has to continue
doing what he is doing ... talk to the people. However,
it is important that Barack visit the Black communities
in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne as well as the rural
areas he is currently canvassing. It would be a tiring
endeavor, but it would be a great gesture.
Indiana is with Obama, but EVERYONE wants to hear what
he has to say in person. There is no surrogate (except
for Mrs. Obama) that can sub for Barack himself and if
Philly was any reflection of what people want (hope) and
need (truth) then the man himself must show up.
But if you don't get to the Black communities get on
the phone and tell them why you can't get there. You
have convinced us (the Black Community) that you understand
our needs and thus we are with you.
In fact everyone is with you whether Black or White.
On the Bill Moyers show
Reverend Jeremiah Wright showed us his knowledge of theology
and how it related to the Black experience. This was admirable
and showed him in a positive light. In addition, pictures
were shown from his service days as a U.S. Marine and actual
video of how he helped grow his congregation from 87 members to
over 6,000. Also shown was medic work he did with President
Lyndon B. Johnson. The bottom line this man served both his
country and community.
Then on Sunday and Monday he unleashed barages of disparate
comments that succinctly let you know that he is no Barack
Obama. Far from it! It seems that his ego was in full flair
up and that it is the Black church under attack and not
Barack Obama. This shift in topic confused not only the
viewer but the media.
The media said, 'How dare he not support Obama after he did
his best not to throw him under the bus!' Grant you that
these are the same folks that were saying that this was
Obama's albatross, they now stepped back in aghast of the
truth Obama spoke in February about Reverend Jeremiah Wright
being like a cranky uncle you can't get to shut up!!
Obama can do two things on this issue:
Try to ignore both Wright and the media in this mess and let them fight in the playground
Come right out and say I told you so and totally separate yourself from Wright.
What would I do if I were Obama? I would toss him and toss him hard.
After all Obama is running for the presidency of the United States of
America not the school board (not demeaning the school boards of America
of course). Plus, Wright should have a least stepped back on the way he
said what he said. After all, the media gave him a stage to NOT be
sound bitten and he could have said it the way he wanted to say it.
(BWP Wire) WHITE PEOPLE ARE BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THE COMMENTS OF DR. JEREMIAH WRIGHT. I HEARD IT MYSELF!!
Well I'll be dang!! Things do change. Being an Orlandean these past few
years and from just looking at the city you would say that the city is
progressing. In Orlando, you still have the flavor of its originations (Orange
groves) but now with Disney, Universal, Dearden, Siemens, Lockheed Martin
anchoring the city, minds are changing.
So when I stopped at a local library on East Colonial boulevard (Going toward Cocoa Beach for the locals) and heard
white people saying that they understand exactly where Jeremiah Wright
was coming from I said to myself ... way to go Orlando.
Apparently the white people in Orlando, FL are a bit more progressive than
the folks in Pennslyvania and Ohio. Many of them simply want the best
person for the job. To most of the white folks I heard in the library, they
sided with Obama on the bitter remark and the Wright association! One lady said, 'All Hillary had to do was apologize for
the war and she could have taken on Obama.' The entire party said, 'yeah'. Sounded simple, but I heard folks saying that before, during, and after almost ALL of the primaries. The lack of a war apology was her albatross!
The harshest comments were targeted toward the media, especially Lou Dobbs!
'Wow', I was thinking, 'why would they dislike Dobbs?' Well, it seems that they don't like Dobbs dissing all the candidates as
unqualified while he spins both the republican and democratic race for
his own purpose. Wow! Times have change!
Other stones were thrown at Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Chris Mathews, and of course, Bill O'Reilly. This crew really thought that O'Reilly was a sick cookie.
White people in Florida are a bit more progressive than we first thought.
They think that a man is a man and a woman is a woman no matter what race
they come from. Granted that this was only a conversation I overhead, it
points to the fact that media has it all wrong! Whites are not afraid of
the words of Rev. Jeremiah Wright. After seeing the Bill Moyers broadcast
on friday and listening to the gospel analogies compared to the Iraqi
invasion, these folks were sold on Obama. They understood.
It is apparent that more people should see this broadcast to get the real
skinny on what Rev. Wright actually said. He said nothing racist! Nothing
unreal. He spoke the straight-up truth and the media cannot use TRUTH to
drum up ratings.

Making Inroads
The BlackWebPortal.com continues to make its foray
into become a national presence. From March 1 to March 30th
our team devoted their time to making sure all pieces of the
site were truly functional. We beefed up the Buzz Zone, we
beefed up our political content (under construction), we even beefed up the galleries.
For instance, we want to change the look and feel of the Yellow
Pages to be more State and City oriented in order that a user
from Florida, California, Georgia, Pennsylvania, etc., will begin
using that particular state page as the way they begin their day.
Like I said, this should be done by the 29th of April. After
that, the Yellow Page (or Business Page) clients should flow in
at 10 or 20 per day by our initial estimates.
As always, we thank you for reading our eZine and visiting our site.
(AP) Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney on Monday endorsed Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's presidential bid.
In a statement, the 75-year-old Rooney said endorsing political candidates is not something he regularly does.
"As a grandfather and a citizen of this community, I think Barack Obama's thoughtful, strategic approach is important to America," Rooney said. "When I hear how excited young people seem to be when they talk about this man, I believe he will do what is best for them, which is to inspire them to be great Americans."
The Obama campaign said the Illinois senator and Rooney met Monday after Obama spoke at a meeting of the Alliance for American Manufacturing. Obama's Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, also addressed the gathering.
Last month, former Steelers running backs Franco Harris and Jerome Bettis also endorsed Obama.
Looks like Bob Johnson wants to get knee deep in the Democratic presidential race doo-doo all over again. Actually, he is knee-deep in it.
On Monday, speaking to the Charlotte Observer, he did his best Geraldine Ferraro imitation and that Sen. Barack Obama would not be his party's leading candidate if he were white.
And what? Blazin' Saddles star Bob 'BET' Johnson is saying that Obama isn't ready? Jeez Bob ... does making booty shaking videos for 15 years make you an expert on politics. You should see some of the stuff he is responsible for! He makes Snoop, Dr. Dre, and Fiddy Cents look tame. This is why he's a billionaire! He abused his own. This why he's so confused with Black folks now! That is how he sees us.
WARNING, This Video is Pretty Provocative. It has 15 seconds of Hyper Rumpshaking done Bob Johnson Style. We Rate it 'R'
First of all, I have nothing against Hillary Clinton, she’s a pretty good leader, but I like others do not like her stance on the war. That is it. But talk about digging a hole for yourself, now she’s the six-shootin’ Annie Oakley! So now, Annie get your gun is out! But wait, there’s more. She not only has a six shooter, she floats like a butter fly and stings like a bee through a hailstorm of sniper bullets! And get this, Chelsea is in her papoose.
A 26-year-old Texan has been crowned Miss USA 2008 by Donny and Marie Osmond. Crystal Stewart, hailing from Missouri City, Texas, is one of only a handful of black women to be crowned in the pageant’s 57-year history.
"I want to talk to people about how to set a goal and achieve it," she told reporters backstage. "Because I just achieved my goal."
Stewart was already a success before her win -- she runs a party planning and motivational speaking company and is a professional model who wishes to dedicate her life to international philanthropy.
This was Stewart’s sixth attempt at the top spot -- she first competed for the Miss Texas crown in 2002 and placed as a runner-up several times.
Don't you hate it when you tell the truth and folks smack you around for it?
In which world are Clinton and McCain from? Must not be
earth, apparently not America. Folks are bitter as hell.
If kids go into engineering or computer science it is
tough to get an entry level job to get experience. They
instantly want to replace you will a H1-B1 VISA guy or
girl from India! Hell, in the last 10 years 3.5 million
manufacturing jobs went to China and Canada! Hell, Carolina,
the home of furniture manufacturing is ghost state when it
comes to Seally, Bassett, etc. Retirement funds? Can I
say Enron and super high executive pay?
In actuality Obama is right on time as usual. Talking to my
family (mom, dad, sister, uncles, aunts) they echo the
bitterness sentiment. My uncles always note that Detroit
was the place to build cars. But we all know that in 2008
unemployment is high in Michigan and 50% of the car
making has been moved to Canada. Even Fisher autobody
makers moved.
Soldiers coming home with mental disorders are quickly
discharged with PSTD and then their bonuses are taken
away. And get this, they get very little or on VA benefits.
McCain, Clinton, American folks are fed up because of the
irreality of statements claiming that all is well when all
is not. In the beginning (See this forum) we were in the
Clinton corner, but after learning more about where the
candidates stood, we moved to the Barack Obama corner.
We need logic, not hearsay claiming someone is elite when
they are not. Both Hillary and McCain are over the
$100,000,000 dollar mark. Who is the elitist?
Update 12:01 a.m. 04/14/2008
We submitted content to this Fox News Blog and they never submitted the content. We not that the blog is moderated so we understand that they only allow the opinion that support their backing of a particular political candidate:
A lot of the comments submitted here are hilarious! Think about it ... most of you here are voting for the person and not the issues they stand on. How very elementary schoolish and unsophisticated you are. When McCain did his bomb-bomb Iran stuff, I didn't take it as true, but I thought that he would have to explain himself. And a while later he did. He is weak on the economy and has no plans for the economy yet. But did he stand up for Vet issues last week ... especially on PTSD's? No. You folks are funny. That is why you sit right in this Blog while executives of corporations really ship IT and Manufacturing jobs overseas and tell you straight to your face that it is good for you!! Then Bush and Co. start a war, 4020 of our brothers and sisters die, 29,750 are injured, 100,000 iraqis are dead and they still look at this blog and say, Yep, we still got'em. Then they spend $12,000,000,000 a month on the war and want to give a wall street bank a $30,000,000,000 bailout and homeowners nothing! Yep, you folks are quite funny indeed.
Wow Scared of Obama your comments are indeed weird. You do know that the Clintons got money from the Saudi Royal family? You do know that Bill Clinton just got $800,000 from the Columbian government? Don't you? You do not that Hillary was so dang fast that she dodged sniper fire while carrying Chelsea in her backpack? Right?
The BWP has been blogging for weeks about the flaws in
Senator Clinton's strategy. Now it seems that the Clinton
camp has done the right thing in firing their chief
strategist and pollster, Mark Penn. To say that he hosed
things up for Hillary is an understatement. The first thing that
Clinton had to do was be 180 degrees against the war.
With 800,000,000,000 spent, over 4,000 soldiers dead
and a beat down economy to boot (check out this article
Hemingway haunt gives discounts to poor Americans ) it
should have been a no brainer NOT to campaign on the experience tip.
Add to that Clinton's tall tales about dodging sniper fire
and several other tales of derring do you have
a candidate that is grasping at straws to continue the
fight. The bottom line, her stance on NAFTA, Healthcare,
and Iraq are 100% wrong.
And get this: Mark Penn's company made 10.9 million bucks
from the Clinton campaign.
2007 champion Serena Williams battled injury and scorching Florida temperatures to beat third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 3-6 7-5 6-3 in the Sony Ericsson semifinals.
She is definitely proving to the world that she is at the top of her game and that her forehand and backhand are weapons to be reckoned with. Venus, well, she has the power (faster serve, faster winners, per se) but she lacks the discipline to serve consistently. Serena's game is a bit more mechanically superior to Venus in the areas of serving and in returning serves.
So Serena, go ahead and win the SonyE. You definitely got game.
Update 04/05/2008 @ 16:45 P.M.
Serena successfully defended her 2007 Sony Ericsson opponent Jelena Jankovic 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 and believe me, that match was fairly competitive.
Serena cruised through the first set with targetted and speedy serves and great footwork. In the second set, Serena rapidly obtained a 3-0 lead, but eventually lost the set 5-7.
In the 3rd set Serena raced to a 5-0 lead, but Jankovic got back to a 5-3 before Serena regained her composure and put her away 6-3.
What in the hell is wrong with Naomi Campbell? This wonderfully attractive woman should never have to spit at a cop for whatever reason! I remember seeing her for the first time on the Fresh Prince of Belair many years ago and that English voice was so sweet and that body so, uh, let me get back to her bad behavior.
But Naomi, why ya wanna be so bad? There are not enough designer outfits in the world that you would want to clean toilets in again. Straighten it up luv.
Selita, the Next Tyra Banks?
Some say that Selita is the next Tyra Banks .. this avatar says no. Selita has beauty, but not the voluptuous figure and beauty of Tyra. But hey, that is just this avatar's opinion. Check out both galleries yourself.
Willard Christopher "Will" Smith, Jr. (born September 25, 1968) is American actor and rapper. He is one of a small group of people who have enjoyed success in three major entertainment media in the United States. Newsweek has called him the most powerful actor on the planet.[1] Smith has been nominated for a Golden Globe, two Academy Awards, and has won multiple Grammys.
Smith's most notable television role was that of William "Will" Smith (his namesake role) in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In his film work, his notable roles include Agent J in Men in Black and Men in Black II, Detective Del Spooner in I,Robot, Muhammad Ali in Ali, as well as his role in the blockbuster Independence Day and more recently as Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness with his son Jaden Smith and as Robert Neville in I Am Legend with his daughter Willow Smith.
He is also one of only three actors in the history of film to have seven consecutive US$100 million blockbusters, the two other being Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks
Big sister Venus didn't fair so well April 3rd, getting defeated by Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Venus really has to work on consistency since that is all that separates her from being on top again.
Serena, however, put the beat down on Justine Henin 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the Sony Ericsson Open at Key Biscayne, Fla. Williams won the final 10 games Tuesday by playing nearly flawless tennis, while Henin unraveled after she double-faulted three times to fall behind 4-2.
LEFT: African American tennis player James Blake got beat by Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in Key Biscayne. In most match ups Blake usually has Nadal's number. But this time Nadal played well enough to keep up with Blake's powerful forehand topspin and improving backhand.
We are moving in reverse in the galleries! Thus, we are featuring Lisa Bonet of the Cosby Show and A Different World fame. She has been in numerous features films (Enemy of the State, Angel) and has starred on Broadway.
She also has a child from both Lenny Kravitz and Jason Momoa.
The new Doubletree (DT) Hotel chain commercial promises you that you will be calm, cool, and relaxed. While you’re watching the leaves sprouting and the beautiful Double Tree scenes, the sweet jazzy voice of the Queen of the Blues, Dinah Washington is played in the background. The song: Relax Max. According to the information found using family griots the tune is actually played by none other than Quincy Jones and his orchestra. Dinah Washington was 39 when she passed back in 1963.
Yes, what would Martin Luther King Jr. say about the Democratic Party contest between Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton? At first glance I think that he would feel pretty dang good! After all, in his day he had to fight against outright discrimination in a country that claimed that all men were created equal. He also had to watch great leaders, Black and White get murdered (Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, John Kennedy, & Bobby Kennedy) because they wanted change.
Martin knew that bringing change to an institution as entrenched and discriminatory as the United States of America was going to be extremely difficult. One must note that this is the same boat that both Barack and Hillary find themselves in. Barack is in the lead on Change and promises to run the country with the citizens in mind. Hillary is running on experience. That too is valiant. But still, Martin would be proud to watch these two change the way that America chooses its president.
Where's my umbrella? I lost it while I was singing in the Midwest rain!
We've been getting so political in these blogs that we're taking a little break. A break with the teen sensation Rihanna! We've heard that she had a nude photo shoot in the FHM Magazine Germany and wonder how that will affect her record sales. She has been hyped up as a teen queen, but we are wondering how long will it take her to simply chuck all that away for a so-called maturer audience.
In the New York Times today, Clintonista James Carville calls Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama "an act of betrayal."
“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,” Carville said.
So in Mr. Carville's view on this Easter weeend, Richardson is Judas Iscariot, Obama is Caiaphas, and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, is .....?
eZine Issue 10, Volume 9 should have hit your mail boxes early this morning. The site is getting very, very close to being 100% functional! We are excited about this an plan to have more of this site done this week.
From MSNBC.com: March 20: Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign refuses to deny reports that it’s using controversial figure Jeremiah Wright to make Sen. Barack Obama seem unelectable, but the Democratic candidate isn’t answering all of the questions reporters are asking her on the matter. MSNBC political analyst Eugene Robinson weighs in.
As I watch station after station probe the Obama
minister YouTube stuff and now the direct intrusion
into Barack Obama's passport one thing I do know is
that white people are not afraid to vote for Obama.
White people have watched their country be driven
down to the ground by a government that only cares
for their own purses. They know that based on how
the soldiers were treated that if they fall they
will have no help. They also know that it is not
right to have mandated health care that will affect
your credit score if you cannot afford to pay for
your medical insurance. They can see through the
smoke.
In reality the folks that are voting for Hillary
understand that she is not quite right. However,
they are loyal and the think that She is the Girl!
Not exactly the right way to choose a leader.
The right way to choose a leader is to make sure
that the issues that affect you, your community,
your state, your country, and the world are worked
on by your leader.
These are reasons to vote for a person. If I did
not think that Obama could do the job that he says
he can do, I absolutely would NOT vote for him.
